Welcome in Space !

The first AcousModules appear in 2003 with my discovery that Synthedit will allow me finally to have a solution to most of my technical problems in multichannel composition.

I work in multichannel acousmatic music since about twenty years, and after having used analog multitrack recorders and MIDI instruments, the computer environment appeared to be at the same time very powerful and extraordinary limited.

The use of multichannel plugins has allowed to extend the functionnalities of a number of audio softwares in a way that multichannel creation has became nearly as easy to do than before stereophony (a chance, I am a PC user ! See the Multiphonie site for the presentation of the software environment for the multiphonic composition - sorry in French only).

I've spent A LOT of time making these plugins, actually much more than using them, thus if my main purpose is to have the tools to use in my personal compositions, I am very happy to see that they can be also useful for other people.
Since I am not a programmer, and even less a marketing man, the great majority of these plugins are given as freeware to the community...

I am very sorry to be a so bad English speaker and writer :-(
Please, be indulgent for the pages which are already in English, and be patient for the ones which are yet in French (if you want to help me for translations...).

Old news :

Update of OS X versions that now show the GUI in Reaper.

First versions of the AcousModules in
STEREO !

New plugins in beta :
AnimaSpat 7 and AnimaSpat 2D

Since Sonicbirth has gone open-source, all the
OS X versions are now given as freewares.

The
Surroundizer is now available !

New : the
3D MIDIGator is a little utility plugin that allows to use a SpaceNavigator as a 3D MIDI controller.

The AcousModules consitute a series of multichannel audio plugins, which must be used in a true multichannel environment creation, i.e. to work with a listening setup comprising several speakers, typically 5, 8, 12, 18 or more…

They are based only on true discreet channels
and ARE NOT CONVENIENT for virtual "3D" with only two speakers (HRTF), and don't use the ambisonic coding nor other channel simulation techniques.
Some plugins CAN function in stereophony with only two speakers, but for the majority of them that does not represent quite simply
any interest...

Therefore, before saying that “things does not work”, be sure that they correspond with the use which you wish to make.

The plugins are available in the VST /VSTi format for Windows (all versions, can work under Linux, see below), and a few ones are available in the Audio Units and VST formats for Mac OS X.

The AcousModules can be integrated in pacticaly all the existing multitrack and modular hosts... but attention, not all these software are able to use multichannel connections.

So, before everything, please verify that your audio softwares are compatible with plugins that have more than two inputs / outputs on this page.

The plugins can be downloaded in the form of RAR archives for Windows (better compression) and ZIP for OS X.

Installation in Windows : simply copy the .dll file that you have downloaded (freeware versions) or received by email (shareware versions) in the VstPlugins folder of your application.
Note : if the file extensions are hidden (default in Windows 2000 and XP), you will only see the plugin's name.

Note for the users of Apple/Intel computers : since it is now possible to have a dual boot OS X / XP or to use virtualization techniques (Parallels, DarWine...), you can profit of all the softwares for Windows, which means all the AcousModules and the appropriate hosts like Podium.
Thus, I encourage you to choose this way ;-)

Installation in Mac OS X :
For the others (G4/G5 computers) :
- first install the most recent version of Sonicbirth. The plugins are actually made for the 1.2 version.
Both VST and AudioUnit versions are present in the archives :
- copy the .component file in the folder /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components
- copy the .vst file n the folder /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST
System configuration : Sonicbirth needs absolutely 10.3.9 (minimum) and Quicktime 7, and is full compatible with the MacIntels computers.

Installation in Linux :
Some Windows VST plugins can work under Linux with Wine and FTS. The Studio To Go distribution is set by default to allow their direct integration within Jack, but if you are a linux guru, you must be able to set it in other distribs...
About half of the AcousModules can be used more or less efficiently, but no support can be garanted... and it lacks of convenient hosts.

After some attempts to have a users Forum dedicated to the AcousModules (the last being balanced by the loss of all the messages…), it is now the site KVR-Audio, well-known of the amateurs of plugins, which lodges a simple forum, but which should allow profitable exchanges…
